Application volume

The S1 system provides storage through abstract layer known as /overview/terminology/#vsc (or logical volumes).
All logical volumes are associated to applications that act as container of volumes and their block/file connectivity.

In the Application Volume part, you will learn how to transform physical storage into an abstract layer of storage. This transformation will enable you to utilize the physical storage within the S1 system. You can use the Application Volume part to:

• Create edit and manipulate Applications, Logical volumes, File systems, Shares, Snapshots
• Manage and mapping volumes through iSCSi or FC.
• Create edit and manipulate storage for NAS servers.
• Replicate volumes.
• Create and edit storage templates to automate common storage tasks.
• Provision storage for VMware virtual machines.
