Installation

The S1 storage system provides a hardware-agnostic storage solution based on the S1 single storage engine. The basic hardware components for the S1 system include:

  • Node servers (the platform)
  • A management relay station
  • Disk enclosures (JBODs)

The S1 storage engine utility is built into the S1 operating system. To install the S1 system, you must install the S1 operating system on each of your node servers. The S1 system runs and manages the node servers while the S1 storage engine utility turns the node servers into storage servers. To install the S1 system, follow this procedure:

  1. Connect and install the physical components of the system.
  2. Install the S1 operating system on each of the node servers.
  3. Use the Terminal User Interface (TUI) to perform post installation configurations.

After you finish with the TUI post-installation settings, your S1 system is ready to use. You can configure the system using the command-line interface (CLI), graphical user interface (GUI), or REST API. To reconfigure the node server using the TUI, access your terminal and execute the following command:

ssh -l <admin-user-name> <IP-of-the-node-server>
